Service Description

There are several hydrotherapy techniques available for injury rehabilitation, depending on the individual's specific needs and goals. One commonly used technique is aquatic exercises, which involve performing specific movements or exercises in water. These exercises can be customized to target specific muscle groups or joints, promoting strength, flexibility, and range of motion. After total joint replacement surgery, such as hip or knee replacement, hydrotherapy can be effective in restoring range of motion, encouraging normal movement, and initiating strengthening for rehabilitation once the wounds are fully healed. For periods when weight-bearing activity needs to be avoided, such as in the case of a stress fracture, hydrotherapy is a great option to maintain movement, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. While land-based impact activities may need to be avoided, engaging in water-based exercises allows individuals to stay fit and maintain consistent exercise habits while recovering from an injury. In the case of ankle sprains, a hydrotherapy program can be highly effective in restoring pain-free range of motion, balance, normal walking, and confidence in using the affected limb. It can also help reduce swelling in the injured ankle. For knee injuries, gentle lower limb strengthening exercises in the water can help protect the joint while strengthening the muscles surrounding the knee. Water running, gentle kicking, and strengthening exercises are excellent ways to rehabilitate following a knee injury. In cases of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) or muscle soreness following intense activity, hydrotherapy is often used by elite athletes and endurance runners. The soothing temperature and hydrostatic pressure of the water help improve circulation and aid in recovery, making hydrotherapy a staple in post-match routines.
